History & Journey

A Story of Faith, Education, and Community

In 2016, Literacy Ministries began its mission to bring education to marginalized children in Zimbabwe. What started as a small vision has grown into a thriving school, providing hundreds of students with Christian education and essential life skills. Our journey is one of faith, perseverance, and God’s guidance in transforming lives.

Timeline of Key Milestones

2014

The Vision is Born

The idea to provide education in remote Zimbabwe began in 2014 when the founders saw a need for educational opportunities in underserved communities. The vision became clearer over time, driven by a desire to serve children who had never had access to formal schooling.

2014

2016

Establishing the School

In 2016, the mission officially started. The school was opened with a focus on high school education, covering grades 9 through 12. This marked the beginning of our journey to provide Christian education to children who had never had the chance to attend school.

2016

2018

First Major Developments

The school expanded with the construction of key facilities: a new administration block with offices for the principal, deputy principal, and staff. The school also built a science laboratory—though not fully functional at the time—bringing new learning opportunities to the students.

2018

2019

Auditorium Built

A significant milestone was the completion of the school’s large auditorium, which can hold up to 800 people. Though it still requires furniture, the structure serves as a central gathering place for the school and the community.

2019

2021

Solar Power and Water Infrastructure

For many students, 2021 was a life-changing year as they saw electricity and running water for the first time. A solar pump was installed, providing water to the entire school, and the campus was fully powered by solar energy.

2021

2023 and Beyond

Continued Growth

We are continuing to develop the campus, with plans to fully equip the science laboratory to enhance students' learning experiences. There are also ongoing efforts to furnish the auditorium and administration block to support our growing student body.
